Forget old buckets and containers, do away with wasted disinfectant and measuring jugs. The Footcheck is a foot dip bucket with a lid and has been designed to improve the accuracy of dispensing concentrated disinfectants, achieving the correct dilution every time and providing an audit trail for assurance schemes.

Footwear disinfection is essential for regulatory compliance to reduce the risk of infection and cross-infection in animal houses and farms, especially in high-health status poultry flocks and pig herds.

Footcheck provides a rapid, simple and convenient means to accurately achieve the correct concentration for disinfectants to be as a part of a biosecurity programme.
The footbath is supplied with Easy-to-use wall chart Instructions: an illustrated guide as to how to use the footbath correctly.

The wall chart also lists a choice of suitable disinfectants with appropriate details and final concentrations. Self metering of disinfectant by placing the Footcheck at 45 degrees against a wall.

In addition, peelable labels are available to help users record and audit disinfectant use and change. Used in conjunction with the Footbath record sheet, these will act as a reminder of the renewal date for changing your footbath, especially if an inspection is required.

The earlier versions of this were known as Hysolv FootCHECK.

FootCHECK Disinfectant Foot Bath | Foot Dip with Lid FAQs

What is the correct way to use the FootCHECK foot bath for effective disinfection?

Place the footcheck on a solid surface and add the correct amount of disinfectant by using the integrated markers then fill with water to the level marker, this is approx 15lt. Always remove excess soiling before dipping your boots and ensure you leave in the solution fo rthe correct contact time.

What are the safety and biosecurity considerations when using a Footcheck?

Disinfectants have powerful chemicals, so it’s a good idea to wear gloves for protection. Footcheck helps make audits easier and boosts biosecurity compliance with its calibrated chambers and detailed records. Following protocols and sticking to SOPs is important to avoid cross-contamination and keep biosecurity strong at farm entrances or other risky spots.

How do environmental factors affect footbath efficacy?

Disinfectants can lose their effectiveness when exposed to rain, sunlight (UV), and temperature changes. Using a lid helps prevent dilution and UV damage, but low temperatures, particularly below 4°C, can also decrease disinfectant potency. It is important to regularly check foot dips and replace their contents if they become frozen or significantly degraded.

What is the proper way to set up and use a Footcheck foot bath?

Correct preparation includes positioning the footbath on a flat surface, preferably near a wall at a slight tilt, filling the internal measuring compartments with the appropriate disinfectant concentration, adding clean water up to the final fill line, and stirring to ensure thorough mixing. Users should enter from the ‘less clean’ side, pass through the footbath, and exit on the clean side to prevent recontamination of their footwear. Keeping the lid closed when the footbath is not in use helps preserve the disinfectant’s effectiveness.
