Set Frame List for S4 Heater FAQs

How do I swap frame lists on a Gasolec S series heater?

Tools you need:

  • Screwdriver for the reflector screws (removal/refit)
  • A strong, wide pressing tool (wood or steel) to press the ceramic safely. Do NOT use a screwdriver for pressing (it can crack the stone)
  • Brush/vacuum to clean dust and debris from the burner housing

Step-by-step: changing the set frames on an S Series Gasolec Heater:

1) Isolate gas, cool down, and work safely

Shut off the gas supply at the shut‑off valve and allow the heater to cool completely before you start.
Work in a well‑ventilated area; Gasolec heaters are intended for well‑ventilated buildings.

2) Remove the front parts to access the burner housing

Remove the reflector (undo the screws and take it off).
Lift off the steel grid/mesh (it sits in front of the ceramic stone).

Tip: When reassembling later, the reflector holes should be on the opposite side of the gas inlet. Make a note now (or take a photo).

3) Remove the clips and ceramic stone (to free the frame lists)

Remove the stone clips and thermocouple holder from the corners as shown in the Gasolec instructions.
Lift out the ceramic stone carefully and set it aside (or replace if damaged).
Clean the seating surface and remove any debris/remains so the new frames sit flat.

4) Remove the old frame lists
With the stone out, the frame lists can be pulled out from the burner housing edges. (You’ll typically find two “short” and two “long” frame lists.)

5) Fit the new S4 frame lists (the “set frames”)
Gasolec’s method is to build the frame/stone assembly back up in a controlled order:

  • Fit a short frame list into the short side of the burner housing
  • Fit a long frame list into the long side
  • Place the ceramic stone against those two frame lists

The stone has a smooth side and a lumpy side — lumpy side must be up, facing the steel grid.
The stone also has holes closer to the edge on two sides, those sides are more fragile, so handle carefully.

Press the stone firmly against the fitted frame lists using a wide, strong tool (not a screwdriver).
Fit the next frame list into position by gently pressing it into the gap next to the stone and housing with a steel/wood tool.
Press the stone to create space and fit the final frame list, again gently pressing it into position.

6) Refit clips, mesh and reflector
Refit the stone clips + thermocouple holder in the corners as shown in the instructions.
Refit the steel grid/mesh, then the reflector, and tighten the screws.
Ensure the reflector hole orientation is opposite the gas inlet.

Gasolec

When Mr Heinz Kremer started a company in december of 1956, he had no idea that his company would evolve into Gasolec B.V. a Dutch company that produces gas heaters for the poultry and pig market all over the world. Being one of the oldest producers in the market, Gasolec has almost 70 years of experience in designing and developing heaters through its own Research and Development department. The products comply with the highest standards in the market. Through a continuous search for improvements Gasolec is able to fulfil the needs of its customers.

Gasolec has a few simple guiding principles towards its customers:
1) Deliver the best value for money.
2) Focus on long term relationships through good sales support, service & maintenance.
3) Always delivery high quality through our products and our way of working.
4) Minimize the stock of complete heaters and light units at the dealers by realizing short delivery times through flexible production processes.
