Lubing Flush Breather (Push fit for 22mm drinker)

The flush breather unit is designed to be installed at the end of each drinking line of a poultry nipple drinking system. During flushing operations it allows the flushing water to be safely discharged and prevents air locks.

Because the flush breather is part of the automatic flushing system, ensure that after any cleaning, medication, or line flushing, the breather valve is functioning properly (i.e., closes under pressure when
flushing).

Inspect the breather tube for blockages, kinks or damage — because if air cannot escape via the breather, water column regulation or flushing may be compromised.

Ensure that the drain-hose is clear, properly connected and that the collected flush water is directed away to a safe discharge point (to avoid backflow or contamination).

Monitor that the water quality remains within acceptable limits (iron, lime etc) because build-up in the line can affect the whole flushing function of the system.

If flushing water is not properly discharged or if there’s an overflow or messy situation: check if the breather valve is closing under flush pressure. If not, there may be a mechanical fault (valve stuck open) or insufficient pressure to trigger closure.

If air remains trapped in the drinking line (leading to uneven water column height or erratic drip behaviour): inspect the breather tube for blockages or mis-alignment.

If the flush breather is leaking, or water is seeping outside the intended drain hose: check that all connections (hose to drain kit, adaptor to pipe) are tight and correctly installed and that no adhesive/sealant was incorrectly used.

Ensure that the water supply pressure and system settings are within the manufacturer’s specification, because too low pressure may fail to actuate the breather’s closing mechanism; too high or dirty water can stress components.

Make sure the drain line from the breather is as short and direct as possible, to ensure rapid discharge during flushing and to minimise the chance of standing water or backpressure.

During system commissioning, test the flush breather: initiate a flush, observe that the breather valve closes and flush water flows out of the hose/discharge as expected, and check for any leaks or mis-routing.

Keep the breather pipe visible (or accessible) so you can easily inspect it for debris, damage, or blockages as part of your regular maintenance schedule.

In colder environments or where frost may occur, protect the flush breather unit from freezing, because frost can damage components or disrupt flushing functionality.

The flush breather unit works best when installed along with a water outlet manifold plumbed across the house to discharge outside in to a grey water drain. When the regulator is turned to flush either by manual
operation or a flush computer the system becomes fully automatic and the breather valve will be closed by the water pressure during the flushing process.

That means when flushing the system, as water pressure builds in the line, the breather valve shuts so flush water is directed out of the system rather than allowing air or uncontrolled flow.

Best practice is to install a non-return valve so that when the water is flushed past the valve it can’t return into the drinkers.

It should be installed at the end of each drinking line. The holes in the mounting bracket line up with the holes in the Lubing Aluminium and is bolted on.

Use a lubricant (vegetable oil) when inserting the pipe into the adaptor of the breather kit, and do not glue it (to preserve the internal seal)
