The energisers have been developed specifically for the UK climate and feature high efficiency solar panels carefully matched to replace the battery energy used while operating, as quickly as possible. A battery charger is also included to help keep the battery charged when sunlight is in short supply.

Hotline Fire Drake 67 Energiser | Solar and Battery Powered FAQs

Which Fire Drake model should I choose 67, or 200?

DaltonSupplies.com stock two of Hotline’s Fire Drake range with integrated solar panels and internal 12V batteries:

Fire Drake 67 (HLS67) – 0.67J stored / 0.50J output, integrated 12W panel; a mid‑power all‑rounder.
Fire Drake 200 (HLS200) – 2.5J stored / 1.8J output, 24W folding panel array for longer perimeters.

How much fence, or how many nets can a Fire Drake power?

HLS67: up to 5km of wire or 5 sheep nets / 1 × 50m poultry net.
HLS200: up to 18 km of wire (net figures vary by setup).

Remember: growth on the fence, poor earthing, and dry/rocky soils reduce effective length. These ratings are ideal‑condition guides.

What comes in the box and do I get a battery and a charger?

Yes. Fire Drake units come equipped with an internal 12V battery as well as a mains battery charger to recharge when sunlight is scarce (especially during winter). They also feature low-battery and pulse indicators on the casing.

How do they cope in the UK winter—do I still need to charge them?

The Fire Drake panels are designed to cover the energy used during average UK daylight hours, but the Hotline also comes with a mains charger so you can recharge the internal battery when it's darker. It's a good idea to regularly check the low-battery indicator, and if it lights up, just plug in the charger provided.

How are Fire Drake solar energisers different from Solar Assist Panels?

Fire Drake is an all-in-one unit (energiser with built-in solar panel, internal 12 V battery, and charger) created to be self-sufficient.
Solar Assist Panels are supplementary chargers that attach to an external 12V battery for compatible battery energisers (such as Merlin, Hobby, Gemini, Falcon), increasing the interval between charges.
