The innovative S20li is a 0.2 joule solar energiser with a lithium battery.

This technology guarantees a very long life span and reliability. Weighing less than two kilos and with an extremely compact size, this model is very handy. Thanks to a larger solar panel and smart battery management system, the battery also charges faster and the device will still function for three weeks even without direct sunlight.

Designed to supply a consistent current for fences extending up to 2km. It features the distinctive ability to charge during cloudy conditions, removing the requirement for direct sunlight.

This fence energiser comes complete with a rechargeable battery and solar panel, and also the red/green cables to connect the energiser to the fence and earthing system (Clip the Red connector onto your fence, and clip the Green connector to your earth rod) but note that the earth rod nor bracket are included, you can choose either the Eco stand or the special mount for a Ringtop post, or the post/earth stake mount.

Specifications:

Maximum output voltage 9200V
Maximum impulse energy 0.16J
Solar panel 3.8Watt
Number of earthing rods required: 1 x 1m
No vegetation 2.0km
Light vegetation 1.2km

Gallagher S20li Solar Powered Energiser Inc Lithium Battery | ST | FAQs

Which model of Gallagher S Range energiser is best for Horses?

Horses react to electric shocks, so it’s important to have a steady voltage (usually at least 3,000–4,000 V) all along the fence. They usually need longer fencing for paddocks and strip grazing. Plants and grass can lower the voltage, so having extra power keeps the fence working well.

We think the Gallagher S30 is generally the best option for horses because:

It provides higher power and longer range, ensuring consistent voltage even with vegetation
Lithium battery ensures reliable performance year-round
Horses need a dependable fence to prevent escapes and injuries

How do you install and set up an S Range energiser?

Position: Point the solar panel facing south (if you're in the Northern Hemisphere)
Mounting: Use a post or earth stake; avoid shade and tall grass covering the panel.

Connections:
✅Red lead → fence wire
✅Green lead → earth stake (at least 60 cm deep)

Pre-charge: Leave in sunlight for 1 day before first use.
Turn ON and check LED indicators (green = OK, red = low battery).

How do I choose the right model of Gallagher S Range energiser?

Model Recommendations:

S16: Suitable for small paddocks or temporary strip grazing with minimal vegetation.
Pros: Affordable, portable.
Cons: Limited power (0.16 J), shorter range (1.5 km max)
S20: Better for medium-sized horse paddocks.
Pros: Lithium battery (fast charging, long life), 2 km range, adaptive energy control.
Cons: Slightly higher cost.
S30: Best for large paddocks or areas with vegetation.
Pros: Stronger pulse (0.30 J), up to 3 km range, lithium battery for reliability.
Ideal for permanent setups or multiple horses.

How long does a Gallagher S Rnge energiser run without sunlight and what about the battery?

Runs for as long as 20 days without UV light, powered by its built-in 6 V rechargeable battery (4Ah)

Battery indicator:

Green flashing: Battery OK
Red flashing: Low battery—clean solar panel and ensure sunlight exposure

Battery replacement: Use Gallagher-approved or equivalent 6V rechargeable batteries.

What are common troubleshooting tips for the Gallagher S Range?

Low voltage or weak shock:

Inspect for any plants contacting the fence
Make sure the earth stake is correctly installed and the soil is damp
Clean the solar panel to ensure efficient charging

Flashing red light: The battery requires charging or replacement.

If there is still no output, use a fence voltage tester and check all connections.

What is the Gallagher S Range and what makes it unique?

The Gallagher S Range includes portable electric fence energisers powered by solar energy, intended for locations lacking mains electricity. They come with:

Built-in solar panels and rechargeable batteries that enable continuous operation throughout the year
Energy management that adjusts to preserve battery life during periods of low sunlight
Durable, weatherproof, and impact-resistant housings suitable for outdoor environments
Lithium versions (S20li, S30li, S60li, S80li) provide charging speeds three times faster and battery longevity three times greater than lead-acid models

How can I pick the best Gallagher S model for my land and animals?

Selection depends on your fence length:

S16 → up to 1.5 km
S20 → up to 2 km
S30 → up to 3 km
S40 → up to 4 km
S100 → up to 10 km
S200 → up to 20 km
S400 → up to 30 km

Stored energy: ranges from 0.12 J (S12) to 4.0 J (S400).
Animal type: Horses and cattle need higher voltage and longer range (S30 or above recommended for horses).
