Which M‑series model should I choose for my fence length and animals?
Gallagher’s M‑range spans small paddock units like M120/M160 up to higher‑output units such as M650/M950/M1400, plus the smart M5000i at the top end. As a very rough guide based on multi‑wire and ideal conditions:
M120 up to 8km; hobby/small paddocks
M160 up to 9km; still small runs but a step up in stored energy
M350/M550/M650 up to 28/35/40km; suit mixed livestock and longer perimeter lines
M950/M1400 up to 42/55km; higher load/vegetation and larger blocks
M5000i (i‑Series) up to 100km and adds smart diagnostics/monitoring
What's the real difference between the standard M models and the i-Series like the M5000i?
The standard M models are all about being tough and easy to use, with built-in lightning protection, LEDs, and a simple setup, perfect if you just want dependable power for your fence. How do I install and earth an M energiser correctly and how many earth rods?
