The M1400 from the special edition range is a sturdy mains energiser suitable for fencing of up to 55km. The energiser has a built-in lightning conductor and a LED bar on the front that shows the voltage of the fencing.

The Gallagher M1400 is a durable 230V energiser designed to provide reliable protection for your animals. With a power output of 12 joules (7.7 joule pulse), it is suitable for fences up to 14km under normal conditions, and can support fences as long as 55km in optimal conditions. The M1400 combines advanced Gallagher technology with an affordable price.
Adaptive intelligence for optimal performance Thanks to its intelligent adaptive control module, the M1400 is highly dependable. It adjusts its power according to the connected fence. If you add an electric wire or if vegetation grows against the wire, the M1400 automatically increases power to maintain adequate voltage on the wire. This ensures the voltage remains stable over time. LED indicators display the fence status, alerting you with red lights or changes when attention is needed.
Consistent high voltage under load While the M1400 delivers a voltage of 7700 volts, what truly matters is the voltage on the fence wire and the shock an animal experiences, known as the 'voltage under load.' The M1400 excels in this area by maintaining higher voltage on the fence compared to similar devices. This is possible because Gallagher designs all electronic components in-house, ensuring perfect compatibility between transistors and capacitors for maximum efficiency: delivering the strongest pulse with minimal energy consumption. What do the LED lights mean on the Gallagher M1400, and what should I check if performance drops (red/slow pulse)?
The M1400’s LED lights are a quick way to read fence status, if they turn red or change, it’s time to investigate.
A guide to LED voltage bands:
Green: ~6–7.5kV
Yellow: ~3–4.5kV
Red: 0kV
If fence voltage is low or stock are escaping, the common causes are:
Inadequate earthing → improve by adding more earth stakes until earth voltage is low (200V or below as a target).
Shorts on the fence line (vegetation load, damaged insulators, broken wires, poor connections) → check connections at terminals/gates and work along the fence with a voltmeter to find where voltage drops
