Direct on line starter complete with overload 9.0 - 13.0 Amp FAQs

What causes the overload relay to trip repeatedly?

  • Motor overload or too much mechanical load
  • Relay settings that are incorrect
  • Single phasing or voltage imbalance
  • Problems with seized bearings or the equipment being driven
  • Frequent starting leading to excessive heat accumulation

It is important to identify the root cause before resetting the relay to avoid damaging the motor.

How do I select the correct TeSys D overload relay?

Select a relay whose adjustment range covers the motor's full-load current (FLC) indicated on the motor's nameplate. Adjust the relay to correspond with the motor's rated current to ensure adequate protection. Schneider provides various TeSys D relay options, generally ranging from 0.1A to 150A.

What does a Schneider TeSys D overload relay do in a DOL starter?

A TeSys D overload relay safeguards the motor against harm resulting from prolonged overcurrent, overload situations, or phase failure. When the motor pulls too much current for an extended period, the relay activates and de-energises the contactor, halting the motor to prevent overheating.

What is a Schneider TeSys LE DOL starter used for?

The Schneider TeSys LE Direct-On-Line (DOL) starter is intended for directly starting and stopping electric motors. It integrates a contactor and a thermal overload relay within a compact housing, offering motor control and overload protection for uses like chain feeder drive units, pumps, fans, compressors, and conveyors.
