BEC Duck and Chicken Drinker

This innovative drinker is an original design by BEC. Although it was initially created for ducks, it has become very popular and effective for other types of poultry as well.

The main challenge with ducks is the mess they create. This drinker allows the birds to dip their heads into the water, keeping their eyes and nostrils clean, while effectively reducing mess and maintaining fresher, cleaner water. Large access holes on each side provide the birds with easy access to fresh water.

The drinker is fully automatic and connects directly to your water supply. This model includes a cut-off valve to maintain the correct water level.

It is free-standing and comes with push-fit legs that raise the reservoir 55mm off the ground. To clean the drinker, simply unplug the bung and drain the water.

What birds is the BEC Duck / Chicken Trough Drinker suitable for?

It was originally designed for ducks, but is also suitable for chickens and other poultry, especially birds that need access to open water for dipping their heads.

Is this drinker automatic or manual fill?

This is the automatic version, designed to be fed directly from a water supply and fitted with a cut-off/float valve to maintain the correct water level.

What is the capacity and size of the drinker?

The drinker has a 16 litre capacity and measures approximately 74cm long x 25cm wide x 21cm high, or around 27cm high with the legs fitted.

Why is it good for ducks?

Ducks need to dip their heads in water to help keep their eyes and nostrils clean; this trough allows that while helping to reduce mess and keep the water cleaner than a fully open container.

Is the BEC Duck drinker easy to clean?

Yes, the drinker is made for easy cleaning; simply take out the bung to empty the water, then rinse it as needed.

Game rearing bird & poultry supplies from the Broiler Equipment Company (BEC)

BEC was founded in the UK over 50 years ago and is credited with developing the first round plastic automatic drinker for the poultry and game bird rearing industries. BEC products have now been in use for over forty years and have developed an enviable reputation for reliability all over the world.

Osprey Limited, a successful plastic injection moulding company based in the UK, purchased BEC in January 2004.

Investment in the BEC product line continues with the recent introduction of new bird feeders and the retooling of some existing products. This includes poultry drinkers to increase the number of game rearing products manufactured in-house. The product range now includes drinkers ranging from 1 ltr hand filled to large ballasted auto poultry drinkers suitable for turkeys, and bird feeders ranging from 1 kg to 50 kg capacities.

BEC has benefited greatly from Osprey’s expertise in plastic moulding having achieved ISO 9001:2015 accreditation in all aspects of its operations. All game and poultry rearing equipment production is carried out to audited procedures, ensuring reliable, quality products.

The BEC feeders and drinkers are just one part of a wide range of product lines manufactured and supplied by Osprey. Others include household products such as vacuum cleaners, as well as equipment for deep-sea fishing and fish farming.
