How can I check the 3mm galvanised wire rope 7x7 for safety?
The 3mm galvanised wire over time will need to be replaced and should be checked regularly, this often shows as rust and fraying where it is clamped around the suspension point. Galvanised 7x7 wire tends to rust from the inside out which can make it difficult to spot problems, this why regular inspection is recommended.
Is galvanised 3mm wire rope better than stainless?
In our experience a 3mm galvanised wire will out last stainless as it remains more flexible over time especially in the harsh environment of a poultry house. Stainless can become brittle and it work hardens as it moves around pulleys on suspension systems
What does 7x7 mean?
7 x 7 denotes the make up of the wire. In this case there are 7 main strands with each of those strands made up of 7 individual strands of wire. The individual strands are twisted together in the factory, producing a very strong and flexible wire rope.
What can the 3mm Galvanised wire rope be used for?
3mm galvanised wire rope is commonly used in poultry houses for the suspension of feeding and drinking equipment. It is sometimes called the drop wire which connects to a 5mm Galvanised wire main cable on a suspension system. 3mm galvanised wire rope can also be used for catenary wire to provide support for other equipment such as lights.
