This varies for different manufacturers. For the Jansen nest the Astroturf mat is clipped into place using the Astroturf clip for Traditional nest 660012 or Astroturf clip for Laymaxx 660014

Because it is strong and durable Astroturf can be cleaned with a pressure washer and a suitable detergent.
