Are capstan winches automatic?
No, our capstan winches are manually operated by either a drill with a suitable driver attachment or a manual winding handle.
Can I lift chain feeders with a capstan winch?
Yes you can lift straight runs of chain feeder with them, if it’s a complete circuit with a capstan winch on each line then it’s recommended to lift one side at a time by a maximum of a metre and then swap to the other side and do the same again, alternating until you get to the desired height.
What is the winch lifting capacity of a capstan winch?

How do I mount a capstan winch?
Capstan winches can be mounted to steel trusses by drilling and tapping the truss and bolt it to it. Use spacers if there is a lining sheet on the ceiling so the winch doesn’t crush the sheets.
In timber houses it’s best to span 2 trusses with timber and mount the winch to one end of the timber. Use an M10 nut as a spacer so the winch shaft doesn’t rub on the timber. Mounting capstans directly to a truss can cause the truss to twist when the load is applied.
