The A18 Grey Squirrel Trap Kit from Good nature is a poison-free trap that quickly and painlessly controls grey squirrels. Once the trap goes off, the squirrel does not get stuck, and the trap automatically resets itself 18 times.

This allows you to catch multiple grey squirrels without having to reset the trap manually. The carcass of the trapped animal can be safely eaten by another animals, as it is not stuck or poisoned. This kit comes with the Digital Strike Counter which allows you to verify the success of the trap in the field and to know when to replace the C02 canister.

Non-Target Species:

As with any trap, it is crucial to minimize interactions with non-target animals. Our A18 humane squirrel trap features an entrance tunnel measuring just 5.4cm, the smallest entrance of any squirrel trap currently available in the UK. Goodnature have accumulated hundreds of hours of footage monitoring grey squirrel activity, during which no birds or non-target species approached the trap. While Tree Creepers, Nuthatches, Tits, and Woodpeckers were observed in the background, they did not come near the trap.

Please be cautious of non-target species such as Dormice, Pine Martens, and Red Squirrels; if these animals are present, we do not recommend using our A18 or any other lethal traps. In such cases, live traps like a squirrel cage trap allow for the safe release of any non-target species that may be caught.

Optimal Trap Placement for Best Results

For maximum effectiveness, install the A18 trap on an established broadleaf tree, fence, or post where there is clear evidence of regular grey squirrel activity. Choosing the right location is critical to improving trap success rates.

Once installed according to the quick start guide, create a feeding zone by scattering a couple of handfuls of peanuts, sunflower seeds, or maize at the base of the tree. This encourages grey squirrels to associate the area with a reliable food source.

Repeat this process weekly to build confidence and establish consistent visitation patterns.

Adapting to Seasonal Feeding Behaviour

Grey squirrel feeding habits change throughout the year, so adapting your bait strategy is essential. The A18 Goodnature trap includes a lure basket, allowing you to easily experiment with alternative attractants such as:

Almond butter
Crushed walnuts
Hazelnut butter

Successful trapping often depends on observing local feeding patterns. If squirrels are already feeding on a natural or established food source nearby, using that same food as bait can significantly improve your results compared to introducing something unfamiliar.
