The Gallagher Animal Performance App is included free with every Gallagher TW-series weigh head. Here's how to get it set up and make the most of it from day one.
Downloading the App
Search for 'Gallagher Animal Performance' on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Download and install the free app. You can also access the full feature set through a web browser at the Gallagher Animal Performance website — useful for viewing detailed reports on a larger screen.
Creating Your Account
Open the app and create a free Gallagher account with your email address. This account stores all your animal data in the cloud — accessible from any phone, tablet, or computer. If you have multiple devices (say, a phone in the yard and a tablet in the office), log in on both and your data syncs automatically.
Adding Your Herd
In the app, create a new herd or mob. Give it a name that matches how you manage your animals — for example 'Main Suckler Herd', 'Store Cattle', or 'Replacement Heifers'. You can have multiple herds or management groups within one account.
If you're moving to EID, you can import existing cattle records from a spreadsheet using the app's import function. This means you don't have to start from scratch — bring your current records in and match them to EID tag numbers as you scan each animal.
Pairing with Your Weigh Head
On your TW-1, TW-3, or TWR-5, navigate to Settings > App Connection. Make sure the weigh head is connected to your farm WiFi network. Sign in with the same Gallagher account credentials you used in the app. The weigh head will now sync every session automatically to your cloud account.
Your First Weighing Session
Start a new session on the weigh head. The app will create a corresponding session record in the cloud. Weigh your cattle as normal. When the session is complete, close it on the weigh head — all records upload automatically.
Open the app on your phone. You'll see your session results, individual animal weights (if you scanned EID tags), and the start of your growth data.
Making the Most of Growth Graphs
The real power of the app comes after your second or third weighing session, when you can start to see growth performance data. The app shows each animal's daily liveweight gain between sessions, growth graphs over time, and automatically flags animals that are falling significantly behind their peers.
This is the information that changes management decisions identifying poor doers early, confirming finishing weights before ordering the lorry, and providing accurate dosing weights throughout the season.
